ST. Alban's Church became known in the 1970's for its Healing Services introduced by the then Priest-in-Charge, the late Rev. Philip Ilott (1936 - 2010) who was subject of the book 'A Smile on the face of God' published by Adrian Plass and a regular Presenter of the Christian TV Programme "Com-pany".

The highly loved priest Rev. Illott had much of an influence that we too have revived the Ministry of Healing .

St. Raphael the Archangel “It is God who heals” was one of the 3 angels that appeared to Abram in the oak grove of Elonei Mamre, Judea in the Book of Genesis and according to the Gospel of John; Stirred the water at the healing pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem holding his attributed trumpet which when

poised at his lips, and God so commands he shall be ready to announce the

Day of Resurrection.

Having appeared in an apparition in Cordova, Spain, during the 16th century; in response to the city's appeal, Pope Innocent X allowed the local celebration of a feast in the Archangel's honour on the 7th May 7. Founder of St. John’s Hospital, St John of God also received visitations from St Raphael, who encouraged and instructed him. In the 18th century, the Neapolitan nun, St Maria Francesca of the Five Wounds (1715-1751) too said to have seen apparitions of Raphael encouraging the ministry of healing.

Miracles do happen

charlotte

Early in 2016 we were asked to pray for baby Charlotte Smith of New Jersey, USA.  She is the grand daughter of friends, the Adams' from overseas who visited

St. Alban's Church a few years ago and have maintained fairly close ties with us.

They also live in Ventnor, not on the Isle of Wight, but in New Jersey, USA.

They asked us to pray for new born Charlotte, born 03 Aug 2016 who was very

sick in hospital being kept alive by numerous pipes, wires and technology.

Her parents were told there was really no hope for a recovery and all that could be done for her was to make her as comfortable as possible and enjoy their time with her until the inevitable happened. Even if she was to survive there was little prospect of her having any quality of life.BUT, miracles do happen and by the end of the year, Charlotte (right pictured in 2016) was at home with her parents and

as you can see, she is a normal happy little baby.

JULY 2018 UPDATE:

Charlotte is still doing well and we hope to have some new photo's of her soon.
