Prayers do Work and Miracles do still happen
Early in 2016 we were asked to pray for baby Charlotte Smith from the USA. She is the Great-grand-daughter of Jeanette Adams who visited St. Alban's Church a few years ago and again in September 2019. She lives in Ventnor, but not on the Isle of Wight, this Ventnor is in New Jersey, USA.
Jeanette asked us to pray for new born Charlotte, born 03 Aug 2016 who was very sick in hospital being kept alive by numerous pipes, wires and technology.
Her parents were told there was really no hope for a recovery and all that could be done for her was to make her as comfortable as possible and enjoy their time with her until the inevitable happened. Even if she was to survive there was little prospect of her having any quality of life. BUT, miracles do happen and by the end of the year, Charlotte (top right pictured later in 2016) was at home with her parents and as can be seen, was a normal happy little baby.
SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE:
As the 'photo on the right shows, Charlotte is still doing well and is now a fairly normal three year old who does all the things a three year old should do!
Photos courtesy of Charlotte's Gt-grandmother Mrs. Jeanette Adams of N.J. USA who visited Saint Alban's Church in September 2019
The photo's below are of "Miracle Girl" Charlotte. We have prayed for her since she was born in early in 2016 and not expected to leave hospital. She is now a happy three year old.
ST. Alban's Church became well known in the 1970's for its very well attended Healing Services which were introduced by the then Priest-in-Charge, the late Rev. Philip Ilott (1936 - 2010). He was a much loved and respected priest and was subject of the book 'A Smile on the face of God' by Adrian Plass as well as being a regular presenter of the late night Christian TV programme, "Company."
St. Raphael the Archangel “It is God who heals” was one of the 3 angels that appeared to Abram in the oak grove of Elonei Mamre, Judea in the Book of Genesis and according to the Gospel of John; Stirred the water at the healing pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem holding his attributed trumpet which when poised at his lips, and God so commands he shall be ready to announce the Day of Resurrection.
Having appeared in an apparition in Cordova, Spain, during the 16th century; in response to the city's appeal, Pope Innocent X allowed the local celebration of a feast in the Archangel's honour on the 7th May 7. Founder of St. John’s Hospital, St John of God also received visitations from St Raphael, who encouraged and instructed him. In the 18th century, the Neapolitan nun, St Maria Francesca of the Five Wounds (1715-1751) too said to have seen apparitions of Raphael encouraging the ministry of healing.

To stop the pandemic, bring your prayers to Mary with Francisco and Jacinta of Fatima
Cardinal Antonio dos Santos Marto, Bishop of Leiria-Fatima, Portugal, recalled that Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, two of the three young shepherds who saw the Virgin Mary 1916 and 1917, were both taken by the terrible Spanish flu epidemic that killed between 20 and 50 million people.
Francisco died on April 4, 1919, at the age of 10 in the family home. Little Jacinta breathed her last on February 20, 1920, at the age of 9, alone, in the Dona Estefania Hospital in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, where she had been hospitalized since the beginning of that month.
Cardinal Marto prayed that the two young saints would intercede for "so many sick people who, nowadays and in a profound way, experience the loneliness and isolation to which they are subjected."
So far, the coronavirus pandemic has caused tens of thousands of deaths worldwide, and more than a third of the world's 7.8 billion people are forced to remain confined to their homes.
